How to spot and avoid job and freelance scams
In this article
Hirencer does not verify jobs, projects, companies or users. That means you should check every offer yourself. These steps help you spot common scams in any country.
Step-by-step
-
Know the red flags
Be careful if an offer asks you to pay a fee, deposit or “security amount”, promises very high pay for little work, is vague about the work or company, or pushes you to decide immediately.
-
Research the company
Search the company name online. Look for an official website, address, reviews and social accounts, and confirm that contact details match.
-
Keep conversations on Hirencer at first
Use on-site messages while you check the person. Be cautious if they insist on moving to a private chat app straight away.
-
Protect your information
Never share passwords, one-time codes, card or bank PINs, or ID documents with someone you have not verified. Share only the minimum personal data.
-
Get terms in writing
Confirm scope, pay, payment dates, deadlines and ownership of the work before you start.
-
Never take overpayments or “refund” requests
A common scam sends too much money and asks you to return the difference. Do not.
-
Report anything suspicious
Send the link and screenshots to support@hirencer.com. Stop contact and do not send money.
Tips and good to know
- Real employers do not ask you to buy equipment from them, pay for training or pay to be hired.
- If you lost money, contact your bank or payment provider at once and your local police or cybercrime service. In India, call 1930 or visit cybercrime.gov.in.
- Hirencer cannot recover money paid outside the Platform.
